Harrisburg Pa December 19 Judge Kunkel sentenced four men J H Sanderson W P Saycer W L Mathues and J M Shumaker for conspiring to defraud the state in a furniture contract for the new state capitol. They received $500 fines and two years in prison the maximum penalty. An appeal to the superior court was noted. The defendants were convicted of defrauding the state of 19308 in a wooden furniture contract and later acquitted on a metal furniture contract charge.

Lied Sentenced For Bribe in Columbus
Fred Lied former director of public service in Columbus Ohio was sentenced to four years in the penitentiary at hard labor after his motion for a new trial was overruled. An appeal to the circuit court was filed and the sentence suspended pending higher court decision with a $5000 bond. Lied was convicted of accepting a bribe from a street paving company.
