Mrs. Virginia Ecton was buried at Winchester Cemetery after funeral services at the First Presbyterian church led by Rev. J. H. MacNeill and Rev. C. Ed Armstrong. The Confederate Veterans attended, pallbearers named, and a large floral tribute filled the church. Her son Dewees could not attend.

Young Boy Wounded by Accidental Rifle Discharge
Richard Flynn a thirteen year old boy, son of Mrs Melinda Wise, was seriously wounded near the Clark and Fayette line when a rifle discharged while he hunted rabbits. The ball hit a rock, rebounded, and struck him in the shoulder. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington for treatment and was reported doing nicely.

Murderer Elmer Hill Hanged by Russell County Mob in Kentucky
Elmer Hill 27 confessed on the gallows night after a mob seized him at Monticello and hanged him at Greasy Creek. The crime against 12 year old Mamie Womack near Russell Springs led a five day manhunt across Adair and Russell counties ending with a grisly sunrise execution by the mob. Hill had earlier denied guilt despite evidence, and the vigilantes rode 50 miles to carry out the sentence after blocking legal proceedings.

Thieves broke into Highland's store at Judy in this county Wednesday night and took $7 in cash along with shoes clothing underwear and other items.
