City Council tackles bond plan to cover past due debt
In a special session the Winchester city council considered raising the tax rate or issuing bonds to clear overdue bills totaling about 85 000 dollars plus a 100 000 dollar floating debt. The aim is to fund current expenses and needed improvements such as water sewer and roads for 1929. An ordinance to submit funding bonds to voters was introduced, with bond amount to be determined later. Ordinances for 1929 taxes water charges and sewer rates were also advanced. Two curb pump permits were noted as applications from The Texas Company and others.

Funeral Services For Davis Conrad Held Here Today
Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock this afternoon for W. Davis Conrad who died suddenly in New York City Tuesday night. The body arrived earlier from Riverton Virginia and was taken to Christ Protestant Episcopal Church where he had worshipped. The service was led by Rev Robt B Nelson with assist from Bishop Henry St. George Tucker and Rev T W Tayloe. Burial followed in Mount Hebron Cemetery with pallbearers named from Washington Front Royal Fauquier and New York.
