Evacuation as Happy Creek floods outskirts of Front Royal
More than twenty families fled from the Happy Creek lowlands as the eastern suburb flooded last night. Additional evacuations occurred along the Shenandoah river as flood warnings pointed to possible cresting past the 1936 level, threatening further damage.

Chickens Drowned When Truck Upset on Route 7
About 1 o clock this morning a tractor trailer carrying roughly 3 000 chickens left the road near the Opequon crossing Route 7 toward Berryville. More than 1 500 birds drowned as water flooded the cab and the truck slid into a muddy ditch. Driver Charley Lowery swam to higher ground after his vehicle was swept off the road.
