Dr William P McGuire longtime Winchester physician banker and church leader died at his home on Amherst Street in his eighty first year. He served sixty years in medicine, was president of Farmers and Merchants National Bank and senior warden at Christ Church, and helped establish Memorial Hospital. Funeral set for 4 PM Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church with possible participation by Bishop Henry St George Tucker. Interment Mount Hebron Cemetery.

A rare cloudburst drenched the county with one of the year's heaviest rains.
