Wire report describes revolutionary troops in Brussels removing epaulets from German officers, seizing swords, and stripping insignia without shots fired. Soldiers’ committee ordered all German officers entering Brussels to be deprived of epaulets as crowds chanted support for the German republic and socialism. A mob then smashed and threw guns into a pond.
Washington November 14. The voluntary press censorship imposed to withhold military policy troop movements and other information from the enemy has been removed on the recommendation of George Creel chairman of the committee. The change ends a wartime practice that guided American newspapers in reporting sensitive security details.
