United States Senator W. F. George of Georgia will deliver an address titled World Peace at 8 p m in the Handley High School Auditorium tonight This feature is highlighted by the Baptist State Convention and all are invited to attend.
The Virginia Baptist General Association held its second day of deliberations at First Baptist Church with devotional led by Rev. O W Sawyer of Chincoteague. Reports from committees favored resuming the Summer and Recreational School at Westhampton College under University of Richmond invitation. The welcome committee will include Andrew Bell Mayor Shryock T B Byrd Nelson Page R Gray Williams Jake Yost D E Stultz with aerial tours for the public lasting about fifteen minutes covering twenty to twenty five miles from two thousand feet. Piloted by Tom Jardine and maintained by Edward Shand Bowles Field will be used.

The funeral of Rev Dr J W Duffey former pastor of Braddock Street Methodist Episcopal Church South in this city was held yesterday from Mount Vernon Place Church in Washington with Baltimore Conference clergy in attendance Winchester friends also attended. The service included ministers Dr Forrest J Prettyman Dr J H Balthis Dr J C Copenhaver and others. Duffey a Confederate veteran with Mc Neill s Rangers was buried at Arlington National Cemetery near the Confederate monument with a Third United States Cavalry detail firing three volleys and bugler taps.
Aaron Brenner, a New York furrier, arrived in Tientsin after nearly a week in captivity held by kidnappers believed to be Russians. He was highly nervous and could not give a clear account. A later message claimed twenty captors would seek revenge if a promised ransom was not paid, with the sum reportedly reduced to 50,000 dollars after his brother denied any payment.

The Lions Club held a well attended Tuesday luncheon at the George Washington Hotel with Rev. Mr. Scott of Waynesboro Va as principal speaker. The club discussed the Community Chest and promised car donations for Baptist ministers. Lions will aid needy children during Thanksgiving and Christmas and a patient at Catawba has improved after Lions generosity.
Fannie Lee of Leetown aged 75 widow of Otha Lee died at 6 30 last evening at her home after a period of illness. A Baltimore native she lived in Leetown 40 years and leaves daughters Bertha Hogans and Edward Walker of Winchester William Walker of Atlantic City Otho Lee of Stephenson and Alice Woody of Washington. The funeral will be at 3 o'clock tomorrow from Leetown Church with interment at Orrick Cemetery.
Washington November 13 Good underwent a difficult operation for gangrenous appendicitis at Walter Reed Hospital. The War Secretary’s condition was described as extremely serious.
Taylor F Hahn of Winchester family was badly injured when struck by an automobile driven by Wilbur C Cather returning from work. He suffered skull and collarbone fractures and remained unconscious in hospital as doctors faced a grave outlook.
