June 5 Memorial Day Observed for Confederate Bets
The Ladies committee selects June 5 for the Confederate memorial observance since June 6 falls on Sunday. A bronze marker for the second Winchester battle of October 19, 1864, will be unveiled. The marker, a town marker, will be placed on the city hall plaza pending city council permission. The tablet, of native limestone with a bronze inscription, is made by J Arthur Limerick Co of Baltimore and arrives a week before June 5.
