Florida citrus industry seeks fresh marketing push
Cirrus reports plans to raise orange and grapefruit prices for growers with efforts to promote Florida fruit. Initiatives include vending machines at railroad terminals and public lobbies, intensified advertising, and an accelerated research drive to cut costs. Weather last year hurt color and keeping quality, but improved conditions this year may boost demand.

Citrus marketing shifts and vending juice pay off
growers push laws to tighten fruit quality rules for shipments as vending machines press to absorb surplus. Vending innovations by Telecom Corp of New York and Snively Vending and Sales promise 5 to 10 cent juice in six ounce cups and a 675 dollar citrus juice machine distributed nationwide. An excise tax funds advertising, with Florida oranges and grapefruits under long term campaigns. Rio Grande Valley grapefruits face weak demand except ruby reds while California citrus shows stronger returns for efficient growers amid rising competition.
