Demonstrators Seek Freedom or Damages Over Seabrook Sit-In
About 1,300 anti-nuclear protesters filed a class action in U.S. District Court seeking freedom or roughly 30 million dollars in damages claiming confinement at state armories violates constitutional rights. The suit cites inadequate food living quarters health care and sanitary facilities and lack of spaces to meet with attorneys.

Alexandria AP reports a large fire at Hybla Plaza on Richmond Highway destroying an appliance store a laundry and a carpet store with three others damaged. Six alarms were needed before Fairfax County firefighters controlled the blaze with no injuries. Sprinkler systems might have limited the damage as in the Landmark Center fire the night before.

Alexandria Disappearance Case Expands Police Effort
Alexandria police added detectives and uniformed officers to the probe of two deaths and one disappearance in a local apartment complex. Jeanette McClelland, 24, was found in Holmes Run Creek with stab wound signs. Gladys Bradley, 27, was previously found face down in the same creek on April 30. Aletha Byrd, 34, has been missing since April 10 and her abandoned car was found nearby. Autopsy planned for McClelland.
