Forest Fire Reductions Noteworthy
Richmond Virginia May 5 P M D Hart secretary of the State commission on Game and Inland Waters said today the reduction in forest fires in Virginia has been very beneficial to game in many sections. Pedersons report estimates 11 643 552 acres in the protected forest area last year with only 33 acres burned though 1 725 fires occurred. Hart notes fires can destroy food sources for game and that recovery may take two years in some areas. He warns against burning to improve grazing unless under expert advice.
