An old advertisement touts Gets-It as the simple, sure way to remove corn, claiming it makes corn shrivel and peel away with fingers. It notes price at 25 cents, selling through E. Lawrence & Co. of Kage Illinois and Livick's Drug Store, with Franck Baker and Son as distributors or endorsers.
Dabney C. Ramsey a 75 year old Spottswood merchant was acquitted by Augusta county Circuit Court Staunton jurors of liquor law violations after a raid in January detectives seized wine cider and whisky from his premises Ramsey claimed quantities were within legal limits and the wine and cider were for personal use.
Mrs. Joel DeHaven died last Friday at her Cross Junction area home. Heavy snowfall postponed the burial until Tuesday.

Word reached Winchester of the death in Inwood of Miss Margaret Miller aged 79. A Shenandoah native, she lived much of her life in Berkeley County and leaves a sister, Mrs. Mary Hannah Murray of Winchester. Nephews and nieces include John Morrison of Inwood and Alice Pope of Chicago. Maggie Murray, Mrs. Daisy Reed of Winchester, Mrs. Mollie Feltner of Burnt Factory, and Nellie Gordon of Inwood. She belonged to the United Brethren Church. Nearby visitors include J Gilbert Schley of Baltimore and Bruce Bentley who left for Old Point Comfort.
Mrs Elizabeth C Meade widow of the late Philip C Meade died several days ago at the residence of her niece Mrs KE Jacobs near Boyce where she had been living. Funeral services were held at Christ Episcopal Church Millwood with Rev B D Chambers officiating and burial in Old Chapel Cemetery. A Wilmington Delaware native she was known for charm and a wide Clarke county circle of friends. Mr J B Salomot of Richmond VA is registered at Hotel Evans.
United States Express Company asks for 950360 from Baltimore and Ohio Railroad claiming exclusive express rights on its lines since 1887. Suit notes 1913 Parcels Post law and contract terms gave the express firm rights in exchange for 40 percent of gross receipts.
