Bladen Nebras ka loses Lieut Grosvenor P Cather infantry the first Bladen boy to answer his country s call killed in action in France May 28. He served in the navy 1908 16 months and later aided Nebraska rifle clubs. His death was reported by the War Department and the Hastings Daily Tribune in Bladen.

Thomas W. Dean was arraigned in the Circuit Court on an indictment charging the murder of his wife Mollie Dean near Gore on the night of June 1.
