Authority says Co I troops may be fighting the Huns on the Italian front with American forces airlifted to the area. The report notes U S units involved and indicates ongoing combat duties as war effort expands in Europe.

Winchester chamber of commerce calls a meeting of automobile owners in Winchester and Frederick County for tomorrow night to form an auto owners association. Shenandoah County Automobile Association members will speak and help organize locally. All auto owners invited to attend.

Miss Mary Anderson died after a long illness at the parish home four miles west of Winchester at 10 o'clock last night. She had long ties to the family of Daniel Baecher, a former pottery manufacturer south of town. Her remains were brought to the city and interred in Catholic Cemetery with Rev. Farmers crowd the exemption board requesting temporary delays in drafted sons leaving for Camp Lejeune next Monday. Sixty names will be drawn. forty will depart after harvest and return Sunday, then depart Monday morning. Listed names include Milton D. Albin, William Vance, Ivanhoe Miller, Edward Stonewall, Layton Williams, and many others from Winchester, Middletown, Stephens City, and surrounding areas.

Camilla Cook a colored woman and wife of May hew B. Cook died yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at her brother Howard Robinsons home after a prolonged illness. Funeral services will be held at Mann MR Church where she was a longtime member on Sunday afternoon at 2:30. She leaves two sisters Bilima Briscoe of Carlisle Pennsylvania and Rebecca Walter of this city and one brother Howard Robinson of this city.
Next Wednesday June 26 is the final day for female enemy aliens to register and face penalties for failing to appear before Chief of Police M A Doran. A German wife resident here is exempt if her husband is a naturalized American citizen. she and her husband are natives of Germany. Also notes visiting families, local job ads, events, and military furloughs, including Enrique de Lascurain and Lalta, of New York, and Arthur Fansier of the U S Navy. Cardinal Gibbons backs Thrift and War Savings stamps.
War Savings pledges drive Virginia on June 28 as a red letter day for all citizens to buy War Savings Stamps. Stamps cost $4.17 to $4.18 in June and rise by one cent monthly, redeemable for $5 on January 1 1923. Restrictions cap holding at $1,000 maturity value. stamps usable for family purchases. postmaster can redeem early with interest. Also local notices and visits from Roanoke and Refuge area residents.
Berlin war office dismisses reports of Hans engagement as nothing to report while fronts show artillery activity in Somme and Ancre valleys and near Albert. French and German fronts exchange raids with German prisoners counted, and claims of 500000 German casualties are attributed to a Berlin socialist deputy.
