Drug use patterns among British youth tied to family factors
A British survey finds young drug users few from poverty but linked to family disruption and poor parental care. Noble reports similar results for reform school boys, with 19.1 percent of boys and 20.6 percent of girls progressing to hard drugs. Noble and Barnes find no clear link between drug use and crime, noting offenses reflect social conformity difficulties rather than drug-driven motives. The study tracked 194 girls who used soft drugs before 1967 and 100 who did not. by 1970, 40 of the 194 progressed to narcotics versus one of the 100. Ice Age glaciers carved over sixty peaks above 10,000 feet in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park, led by Longs Peak at 14,256 feet.
