A three year British Medical Journal study by Dr. Peter Noble and Gill G. Barnes of Maudsley Hospital finds one in five teenage girls who tried soft drugs like marijuana later used hard drugs such as heroin. Among girls who never used soft drugs, only 1 percent progressed to hard drugs.

Passenger Killed In Jet Hijacking Shocks Chicago to New York
A gunman hijacked a TWA 727 at O Hare en route to New York and killed passenger Howard Franks. FBI agents and Deputy U S Marshal Joseph Zito subdued the hijacker Gregory White after a gun battle aboard the plane as it landed at Kennedy. The hijacker demanded Viet Nam, a plane to New York, 75000 dollars and a machine gun. He was wounded and taken into custody at Queens General Hospital.

Supervisors Plan Voting Precincts and Redistricting
