Doctor pilots Pitts Special for adrenaline relief
Dr George Phillips an anesthesiologist at Winchester Memorial Hospital uses a homebuilt Pitts Special to perform high risk aerobatics, describing flying as a tranquil ballet that relieves surgical tension. He built the plane in Syracuse during internship, soloed in 1971, and has since used the craft to experience physics of gravity firsthand while teaching himself to fly on a limited budget.
