Two Rogersville Men On Trial For Abduction And Rape
Jerry Burton and Marshall Price, both 21, go on trial June 26 in Hawkins County for armed robbery, felonious assault with intent to murder, kidnapping and first degree criminal sexual conduct in the abduction and rape of a 17 year old girl after the Rogersville prom. The incident occurred May 20 with the victims pushed from a bridge and driven through Hawkins, Hamblen and Jefferson counties. Burton, paroled in April after four years for rape, and Price, released in April from a youth center after a prior rape conviction, face up to two days of testimony as indictments proceed. The girl was found virginal and Street, the male victim, sustained a ruptured spleen in the incident.
