County eyes 1.2 million junior high for Fox Drive

Robert E. Aylor told the county board of supervisors that preliminary plans for a nonconvisioned Fox Drive junior high estimate a cost of about 1.2 million. The facility would serve 2,000 pupils with a 1,000 seat gym, large food storage deep freeze, and crafts and agriculture shops. Construction would follow an addition to James Wood High School, with an east side elementary project to come. If the 60 cent building fund levy is applied, repayment would take 12 or 13 years.

School Bills Move in West Virginia Legislature

A bloc of five West Virginia Education Association bills aims to raise state funding by about 13.1 million annually. The plans, sponsored by Dels Wilson Given Gentile and Anvil in the House and Sen McKown in the Senate, include a 20 dollar monthly raise for degreed teachers, 10 dollars for nondegreed, a 4.50 monthly experience boost, and a 15 percent boost in school transportation funds.
