Stockholders meet tonight at 8 for final approval of the first and second mortgage bonds and to complete opening preparations for the George Washington Hotel in Winchester. The 100 room fireproof hotel features private baths in most rooms, a large lobby and dining space, and is approaching completion with heat and brickwork underway.

On Washington's birthday the famous old cannon was removed from South Braddock street to Washington's Headquarters in Winchester. It will be mounted in a base designed by Stuart H. Edmonds, with formal ceremonies planned for the city’s memorial presentation. The cannon, bought for 25 dollars by Frank H. Taylor, was one of twelve used at Fort Loudoun and later displayed on Solenberger land.
