Handley Trust plan clears million dollar school fund
The Handley Board reports over 1.6 million dollars is secured for building and maintaining schools for the education of Winchester’s poor. Funds come from Judge John Handley’s estate after settlement with Scranton executors. About $650,000 will go to Winchester in June, rest as first lien mortgages on Scranton realty. The board plans to begin actual school work in spring 1918 and may use principal with court authorization.
