Mrs. Richard Shain aged 31 in Richmond awaits the birth of quadruplets. Medical sources report four skulls visible and no sign of a fifth child. Birth expected around late April. she is in good condition at a local hospital with five other children aged 2 to 9, all single births.
President Eisenhower hunted quail again after a golf session as he recuperates from the Sept. 24 heart attack. He played nine holes at Glen Arven and shot an 11 over par while expressing cautious optimism about his recovery. The White House physician noted the psychological strain of his return to full swing.
Sir Winston Churchill slept undisturbed as flames burned in the Chartwell Manor kitchen a few feet from his room. An oil stove flare prompted a maid to summon a policeman who extinguished the blaze while firemen checked safety. The 81-year-old former prime minister remained in bed and later resumed his night at the country home.
In Moscow at the 20th Congress, 1st Deputy Premier Anastas Mikoyan criticized Joseph Stalin by name in a speech now published after a 48 hour delay. Khrushchev led the tone against one man rule, praising collective leadership and asserting policy shifts since Stalin’s death in 1953.

Ephraim Martin moved for an inquest into the death of Thomas L. Clark 18 MIT student drowned in Cambridge Reservoir after a hazing exercise. His body was found in 40 feet of water near the Waltham Lincoln town line by frogmen after an all day search. Police say he was blindfolded and told to return to MIT before 8 am to join Delta Kappa Epsilon.
Irwin known as the Mad Dog killer is in death row at Indiana State Prison in Michigan City. He faces execution by electric chair on June 12 for six robbery slayings after escaping Gibson County Jail in Princeton with a cardboard key. He was arrested in San Francisco on February 9 for a stolen diamond case and linked to four Indiana deaths and three Kentucky farm-family fatalities.
A 47 year old Washington D C resident Mrs Tilda Coryell was injured in a three vehicle crash on U S Route 7 east of Winchester. Her condition was described as fractured back but stable. The Studebaker she rode in was driven by her husband John H Coryell. Also involved were Audrey A Jones and John Sartelle. A second crash on U S Route 50 near Winchester damaged a truck and a car.
Boston mayor John Hynes warned that Soviet Russia has developed an atomic missile with immense destructive power, making the nation's civilian defense setup outdated. He spoke after returning from a Washington conference with the War Department officials.

Workers remove 38 Marines’ bodies from dense brush after a transport plane crashed near a fog shrouded ridge southeast of Oakland. The RD5 carried five crew and 33 passengers from El Toro and Camp Pendleton. all 38 perished. Pilot Maj. Alexander Watson, 32, from Santa Ana, reported starting his approach before the crash. A second Bay Area air disaster occurred a day earlier near Tracy.
A mother Helen Laudadale and five children Lillian Eugenia Nancy Thomas Edna Mae died in a southwest Baltimore fire believed to start from an oil stove. Eugene Laudadale, 43, escaped with burns as neighbor Enoch Zeik reports hearing screams and seeing flames at about 4 30 a m.
Cooperating in a city wide one day sales event forty four Winchester merchants plan a Washingtons Birthday Bargain Bonanza next Wednesday at the Apple Capital. Sponsored by the Winchester Retail Merchants Association the promotion committee led by Bynum Neese organized this special occasion with free metered parking 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and all shops open until 5 p.m. Shoppers will find unusually attractive bargains as 44 participating firms advertise specials in The Star on Monday or Tuesday.
War Office reports a chartered plane crashed on take off at Luqa Malta killing all 50 aboard including 45 British servicemen and five crew. The private plane owned by Scottish Airlines carried soldiers and dependents between Britain and Malta.
