A committee of citizens appointed by the governor recommends drastic changes to state government. The report urges abolition of twenty eight agencies to improve efficiency and economy across the state.
A state reorganization proposal from the Reed Efficiency Committee urges abolition of 28 agencies and consolidation into eleven departments. It features a five cent gasoline tax, two year auto licenses, unified state accounting, and exemptions for new industries, with counties allowed an optional form of government and local tax relief.
Universal presents an epic western drama at the Empire tonight and tomorrow with a strong West Point romance and Custer is Last Stand. The film features Indian battles and high action through early American history.

Washington February 14 The House Ways and Means Committee reports a bill to authorize the secretary of the treasury to issue permits to private companies for medicinal liquor production One class of permits would cover bourbon and another rye Permits may run ten years and be renewable but can be revoked for violations The treasury would set formulas and allow reasonable profit The measure replaces the medicinal whiskey plan and argues an emergency exists under the eighteenth amendment guiding swift action by Hawley of Oregon as subcommittee chair.
