He enlisted March 17 1940 and served in Newfoundland before joining the Rainbow Division overseas in 1944. He was briefly wounded October 9 1944 and returned to duty after Christmas. He has two sisters and a brother.

Miss Flossie Weaver 15 of Strasburg sustained multiple lacerations and shock after being struck by a 1937 DeSoto driven by Lawrence Talmidge Larrick White Post. The accident occurred about 3 45 PM on Braddock Street as she ran into the car leaving Pine Motor Company. She was taken to Winchester Memorial Hospital. Larrick was booked on a reckless driving charge. Officer Fothers investigated.
