Trinkle Inaugurated Governor of Virginia Addresses Byrd Bill
Elbert Lee Trinkle of Wytheville was inaugurated forty seventh Governor of Virginia in Richmond with state officials judges and invited guests. He urged passage of the Byrd bill for highway department reorganization and proposed executive control of the highway commission. He called for tighter law enforcement and suggested moving the attorney general to supervise prohibition and criminal statutes. He supported continuing the gasoline tax and studying the county manager plan with a commission of trained business men to report in 1924.

He was about 68, a bachelor, and a member of Braddock Street Methodist Episcopal Church and the Friendship Fire Company. Funeral services are set for two this Friday at his late residence, 134 South Main Street.
