Berlin Dec 8 Chancellor Bruening told the nation by radio that President von Hindenburg could invoke martial law if needed to save the constitution, as a new emergency decree cuts prices wages rents and taxes and bans political meetings until January 25. The 46 page edict tightens monetary policy lowers wages and rents and imposes new controls while forbidding political uniforms and mandating surrender of firearms.
New York Central Railroad directors voted to omit the quarterly dividend of 1 offering. They stated that until business conditions improve, dividends would be declared semi annually at the May and November meetings instead of quarterly.
