Trainman Buried After 76 Car Coal Wreck Near Gallitzin
Rescue workers worked to reach a trainman buried under thousands of tons of coal after a 76 car pileup on an eastbound Pennsylvania freight near the Gallitzin tunnel. Five other train men were slightly injured as brakes failed and the 88 car train ran away climbing a mountain with two pusher engines. Wreckage blocked four tracks and detours used the old mule shoe branch until two tracks were cleared.
