Hugh Armel 28 of White Post was crushed to death at Berryville Basket Company when a log rolled from a pile while unloading on the Norfolk and Western track. He ran to avoid it but was struck and killed. He left a widow and one child, plus four siblings and his mother Mrs Cadwallader.

Death in Grandstand Hemorrhage at Winchester Fair Grounds

Clarke county school board in Berryville awarded the Berryville high school building contract to C. C. Kelley of Bluemont Virginia. His bid was 19900 exclusive of heating and plumbing. Architects Linthium Linthicum of Raleigh prepared the plans featuring a central 800 seat auditorium surrounded by classrooms. The unit plan allows future expansion and rapid pupil flow between rooms and auditorium. The board plans consolidation of Clarke schools at Berryville Boyce and other points as feasible.

Car collapses from bridge 30 feet into river tragedy
John B. Hoffman of Wilmington, Del., was driving a Ford roadster when it veered after a hub cap struck by another car, toppled from the Haute de Grace bridge into the Susquehanna river. He survived with severe bruises after being kept inside the car during the roll, and was later taken to Havre de Grace Hospital. His sister-in-law Mrs. Larrick of Winchester, and his wife Bessie Nulton Hoffman, are noted relatives. The incident marked the first major bridge accident since state ownership.
