Revenue Commissioner of City expires suddenly from heart disease while talking with his daughter today. The unexpected death occurred in the city and shocked colleagues and kin.
J Luther Maphis longtime Winchester revenue commissioner died at his home after a year of heart disease He was a former B and O Railroad clerk telegrapher and a key church and Kiwanis leader His widow children and two brothers survive and he had served a second term as commissioner of the revenue.
