Wealthy chain store operator targeted in $11,000 extortion note

Ohio Car Upsets At Kernstown In Sunday Accident
Mrs Eva Ross about 30 of Akron Ohio was hurt when the Oldsmobile coupe her husband George was driving overturned on Route No 11 near Kernstown. She suffered a broken collarbone severe chest bruises and minor cuts. Mr Ross uninjured. En route to Roanoke they signaled to turn and the car went onto the ditch causing the overturn. In a separate incident Loring Knight from near Hagerstown Md crashed into a parked car near Middletown, injuring a passenger with a minor scalp wound. Damage to both cars was noted with hospital treatment given. Officer Bayliss said a hearing may occur based on Mrs Ross injuries.

Members of Company I and Headquarters Company of the 106th Infantry, Virginia National Guard, returned to their home stations after two weeks of intensive training at Virginia Beach with the Ninety first Brigade.
