Winchester and Frederick county residents plan to travel to Strasburg around noon tomorrow to greet the Shenandoah Valley trade expansionists on the return trip to Harrisonburg. The special, likely operated by Southern Railway as part of An Afternoon At the Seashore, is due to stop at Strasburg at 1 o'clock. The Virginians traveled from Philadelphia to Atlantic City today with a sight-seeing tour and a Sesqui-Centennial Exposition visit.

Pleasant Valley hosts annual Sunday School picnic at Little Mountain on Saturday August 14 with a special railroad excursion. Massive Frederick County raid nets four stills and liquor
A wholesale raid in Frederick County aided by Shenandoah Sheriff Borden led to the seizure of four stills with caps and fermenters, 1150 gallons of mash and 18 gallons of moonshine. Six men, including William Mowery and five sons, faced charges of illegal liquor possession and manufacture as a search warrant misprint halted another target. The operation, conducted in extreme heat, left officers exhausted but successful despite delays and a warrant mix up. Magistrate hearing postponed to August 24 with bonds set at 500 each.

Miners Rescued Alive After Kentucky Mine Cave-In

Giant blast planned at Stephens City lime plant this afternoon
A likely record blast of three tons of dynamite and giant powder will explode at 4 pm at the M. J. Grove Lime Company quarry in Stephens City Frederick County.
