Bob Smith secures the largest majority among candidates, defeating Chiles by 2,663 to 180. Harrison wins by 243 in another contest as total votes exceed 2,800.
In Frederick county many races stayed tight with results rolling in from 21 precincts. Luther Pannett led sheriff race with 2 049 votes to 618 for Oates and 129 for Shull. Joseph S Denny won the assembly seat county wide by 344, carrying Clarke county by 890 votes and the district by 1 108. Robert S Smith topped treasurer race with 2 663 votes to 180% for Chiles and carried all precincts. Burr P Harrison led early for state's attorney before W Erle Edwards overtook him late. final margins uncertain until last precincts reported.
In Winchester 936 votes were cast in the Democratic primary, down from 1,220 in 1923. Boyd R. Richards carried three of four city precincts including City Hall and Friendship Engine House, while Joseph S. Denny led only at the Sarah Zane Engine House.
A meeting of all committees connected to the firemen's convention will be at 8 pm in the Friendship Fire Company hall. The local firemen parade is set for next Wednesday at 7 30 pm, with reel races Thursday. Cumberland Valley Firemen at Fair Grounds 10 am. grandstand seats 25 cents. Virginia State reel races at 2 pm on Cameron Street. Big feature parade Friday at 3 pm.
Douglas Puller, president of the District Nurses Association, says the group is exploring every practical option to help a man at the county hitching yard in advanced tuberculosis. Mrs y and Mrs D W Alexander with daughter Betty Anne Thomas have returned to New Haven after visiting in Stephenson with the McCanns.
The body of Charles M. Cline, killed in a Monday Hancock road crash near Berkeley Springs W Va, was brought to Winchester. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 AM at Braddock Street Methodist Episcopal Church South with burial in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Cline leaves wife Clara L. Cline a son Claude and brothers William M. Cline and Clarence E. Cline. He was 54 and employed by Gulf Refining Company in Hagerstown.
Winchester Steam Laundry advertises a washday event inviting neighbors to gather with the bun dle. Phone numbers 28 and 29 listed for contact, noting a schedule on Mondays Wednesdays and Saturdays.
A mass convention of Democratic voters will meet at the Court House in Winchester on Saturday August 8 at 2 p m to elect an Executive Committee for the ensuing term. Chairman C R McCann announces the Democratic Executive Committee.
Frank Lovett prominent Winchester businessman dies at 37 after leukemia developed during a Portsmouth Ohio business trip and a hospital stay. He built Lovett Brothers from Sample Shoe Store to multiple shops in Harrisonburg and Staunton, served in World War I, and held posts in American Legion, Elks, Chamber of Commerce, and Merchants Association. Thieves backed a truck to a rear door at Coca Cola Bottling Works on East Garrard Street and loaded a heavy iron safe containing about 300 dollars and checks. The loot was found abandoned on the county banks of Bartonsville dant. loss insured by Maryland Casualty Company. Local officers pursue clues as wheel marks in mud indicate entry and carting.
A statement from B. P. Harrison expresses deep appreciation for the voters of Frederick County who honored him yesterday. He notes he faced two worthy opponents and pledges conscientious service if elected in November.

Frederick County results show Denny leading for House of Delegates with a 344 majority. Pannett wins sheriff by 1431 plurality, Harrison for commonwealth's attorney by 243, Whitacre for commissioner of the revenue by 192, and Smith for county treasurer by 2483 majority.
The Winchester Golf Club women finished a July ringer tournament. Miss Mary Miller won with a 34 on par 40, aided by birdies on most holes. Mrs. N H Carpenter Jr earned the second prize with 37, Miss Susan Carson posted 39, and Mrs Victor Arthur scored 41 with a birdie on No 4. Seventeen players competed.
The Presbytery of Winchester records a charter for The Trustees of Winchester Presbytery Inc to manage all trusts and bequests for the presbytery and to hold title to real estate as needed. Six trustees are named with three from Frederick County Virginia and others from nearby areas. Dr. F. T. McFaden is president and Rev. Charles D. Gilkeson secretary. the firm has no capital stock.
Church invites 500 people to a home made ice cream and cake supper on Market Street M E Church Thursday August 6 from 7 to 10 PM. Chicken salad served 5 to 7 PM. Price 50 cents. Proceeds support church activities.
The regular monthly meeting of the Friendship Fire Company is set for tomorrow night at 8 o'clock in Friendship Hall. All members are urged to attend as this is the last meeting before the big convention next week. Capt. Fred W. Forney.

Clarke County voters cast 1,233 ballots in the Democratic primary with tight results in county and district races. J Denny won the House of Delegates nomination by a large margin, Frank M. Wray defeated J Edward Thomaryville for Commonwealth’s Attorney, and R E Reid narrowly beat Jacob S. Garver for Commissioner of Revenue, carrying eight of nine precincts. The race continued to the final precincts as late counts shaped the outcome.
Mrs Emma Hoffman Lamp of South Braddock Street died at Memorial Hospital after a few days of illness from complications. She leaves husband and two sons Ralph and Clarence Lamp, a brother William R Hoffman of Altoona, and is survived by aunt Mrs R E March. Funeral at 2 30 pm tomorrow from the March home with Rev E A Lambert officiating. Burial in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
