Herndon and Pangborn have lost 17 hours from their world record attempt while refueling at Fairbanks Alaska. The Texas aviators find a supporting refueling ship but remain at rest as plans continue.
AP reports major air journeys as Lindberghs reach Baker Lake Canada en route to Japan. Pangborn and Herndon pause at Khabarovsk awaiting weather for Nome Alaska hop. Robbins and Jones stay in Fairbanks after failed Tokyo relay attempt. Johnson forced down near Harbin en route to Tokyo. Boardman and Polando rest in Istanbul planning next move.
The Lindberghs landed at Baker Lake at 5 p m eastern time yesterday and planned to depart for Hunter Bay today as they continue their long vacation flight toward the Orient. Wireless officials from the Department of Marine confirmed the arrival. The next leg is 650 miles west of Baker Lake near the Arctic Circle.
Police blamed communists for a brief, deadly riot on Chicago's south side that left three dead and several injured. Dozens arrested. leaders identified. Mayor Cermak and Corporation Counsel Sexton ordered steps to prevent repeats and aid evicted families. Communists had held nightly meetings in Washington Park without further disorder.
One death and two illnesses were attributed to the heat in Baltimore today as a second day of above 90 degrees was forecast for tomorrow. A thunderstorm lowered the prior high from 100 degrees and official readings this morning showed 72 in suburbs and 76 in the city center.
An illustrated 60 page program for the Virginia State and Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Associations annual meeting has been published by Winchester Printers. L Allison and G Beaugh received 123 dollars, 30 days in jail, and a one year driving privilege revocation for operating a vehicle under the influence.

Virginia State Horticultural Society protests to the State Department over Argentina fixed valuation of $9 per barrel on barreled apples and $2.50 on boxed apples claiming discrimination. H. F. Byrd asks ambassadorial inquiry to correct what he calls an injustice to shippers of barreled apples.
A bus carrying 22 picnickers, 20 of them black, plunged through an open drawbridge into the Sampit River near Georgetown South Carolina. Twelve bodies recovered. one survivor Jerome Frasier escaped by breaking a window and swimming to shore. The drowned include Warren Newton and his son Olin. most victims were Georgetown and Andrews residents aged 20 to 35.
William Green, president of the American Federation of Labor, urged President Hoover to call a conference of economists or admit the economy’s structure is a failure. Speaking at the Massachusetts Federation of Labor conference, he endorsed a five day week, current wage levels, expanded public works, and warned of a looming unemployed rebellion if industry and government do not cooperate with labor. He urged action as the nation nears its third brutal winter of depression.

Frederick county board of supervisors visited the city county jail at dinner time to inspect prisoner food amid a political dispute. They reported the meals were good nourishing and plentiful and expressed satisfaction with what the prisoners received.
