Organizers announced the parade lineup for the upcoming Apple Festival after extensive planning and effort. The event features local groups and community organizations preparing floats and displays for the parade route, with details on starting times and participant order.
Lieut Nelson F Richards director of parade and Dr Lewis M Allen grand marshal announce the grand parade formation for the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival with a 1 PM start. The parade will move from Market Cameron streets to Fairmont Avenue then Winchester fairgrounds for a Pageant of Progress reviewed by Queen Shenandoah and her court with the Navy Band providing the musical score. The first division lineup includes Highland and veteran posts, Navy Band, and local organizations with a large roster of posts from Virginia Maryland and West Virginia cities.
Desperate conditions spread across southeastern Arkansas and the Mississippi delta as floods from the Arkansas and Mississippi rivers inundate six more towns. Refugees flood relief centers while New Orleans prepares drastic levee action and mobilizes the Louisiana National Guard.

Roanoke officials and the railroad band will ride in eight decorated parade cars with a Grand Caverns float. Representatives from Roanoke and the Winston-Salem Southbound Railway attend, with many hotel rooms reserved a year in advance.
The navy airship Los Angeles completed a 2400 mile cruise from Lakehurst to Pensacola and back to its hangar in Lakehurst in perfect condition. Severe ground winds delayed a landing, causing the ship to circle the field until 2:10 this morning.

The Greenbrier Military School Cadet Band arrived by bus from Lewisburg West Virginia with thirty boys to compete in the Winchester High School drill contest. Capt Beardsworth and Capt Benjamin lead the group which will wow spectators with a strong bid for first, following goodwill from last year. Cadet Donald Sullivan the drum major, noted for baton twirls, headlines a performance that ties to the Stonewall Brigade Band tradition.
Chicago April 27 Umpire George Magerkerth was released by President Thomas J. Hickey after a hotel fight with Milwaukee first baseman Ivy Griffin in Indianapolis. Griffin suffered a dislocated shoulder and injuries delaying play. Magerkerth received a $25 fine, 20 day sentence suspended, and dismissal from the association.

A Keyser West Virginia fire company motor wagon rolled from the road near Capon Bridge and plunged down an embankment while en route to participate in the firemens division of tomorrow's parade. Crews recovered the wrecked truck and planned extensive repairs back at Keyser. The department and band traveled to Winchester as guests of the Friendship Fire Company and had new uniforms for the event.
Northern Virginia and Brunswick Maryland students take the lead as the Festival opens with a parade and performances. Local teachers organizers praised the turnout and community participation across the region.
Four miners were killed today in a gas explosion in No 2 shaft at the Truesdale colliery of Glen Alden Coal Company in Hanover Township near Nanticoke. The cause of the blast was not announced by the company.
