Charles E. Jones Dies After Long Illness in Winchester
Charles E. Jones a Clarke County native with ties to Charlottesville and Alexandria died last night after a prolonged illness. The longtime resident of Alexandria passed away at the Keller homeplace on North Loudoun Street. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the Keller residence with Rev. Dr. F. T. McFaden of the Presbyterian Church officiating and interment in Mount Hebron Cemetery. He leaves two wives Bettie Kiger and Bessie Keller, children Alle Bell Charles Jr Joseph Miller Charlotte and Bettie Jones, two brothers E. D. Jones and W. T. Jones, and many relatives. Mr. Jones was a former Elks member and valued neighbor in Winchester.

Young Man Gets Heavy Sentence In Liquor Case
Carl Patton, 22, pleaded guilty in police court to operating an automobile under the influence and transporting two gallons of liquor. He drew 30 days on the state roads and a $118 fine for the alcohol charge, plus 3 months on the roads and a $68 fine for the transport offense. Patton said he bought the liquor at Frog Hollow, Md., and his borrowed car was ordered confiscated.

Fire damages wing of house on Pine Farm

Nathanial Oden Sowers a noted Baptist missionary and Confederate veteran died at his sister Misa Hattie Sowers home in Berryville Clarke county in his eighty fourth year due to age and Brights disease.
