The President appoints Harry C. Stouffer as postmaster at Winchester and Frank L. Schofield as postmaster at University Virginia. The move follows a long campaign on behalf of multiple candidates spanning nearly two years.
Harry C Stouffer will become postmaster in Winchester ending a protracted contest sparked by the death of Hunter N Kern two years ago. Stouffer, long time assistant postmaster, was one of three candidates on the Civil Service list after a new examination. He is praised for integrity and strong administrative ability and is expected to receive general approval.
Ww. A. Ryan, director general of the Apple Blossom Festival, will be on WCAP at 6 40 tonight to discuss the festival and explain what he would miss if he cannot attend next week.
A marriage license was issued in the Corporation Clerk's office to Clarence J. LaFollette and Miss Mary FE Brill, both of Yellow Springs West Virginia. The groom is a lumber man and the son of Madison LaFollette while the bride is the daughter of O W Brill.
Advertisements on pages six and seven announce Hamburger's big anniversary sale with special prices and limited-time offers. Store promos highlight meal deals, savings on burgers, shakes, and family combos.

Winchester to be honored by Harrisonburg State Teachers College as 100 students appear with a float and 21 maidens in flower costumes. The college glee club performs The Wild Rose on May 4 and 6 at the Andley Auditorium for the Apple Blossom Festival benefit.
Funeral services for the late Charles E. Jones were conducted at the Keller home on North Loudoun street by Rev. Dr. F. T. McFaden. Burial followed in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Relatives from Alexandria Charlottesville and Pittsburgh attended along with a large circle of friends.
A decree of absolute divorce was granted to Gladys Palmer Byrd from Erickson Byrd for desertion over three years. Married April 19, 1920 the couple lived in the city until 1923 when the husband left and they have not cohabited since. The wife may resume her maiden name Gladys Palmer. COLORED CLARKE COUPLE WED to Moses Williams and Pearl Williams. Both colored residents of Clarke county Virginia. The groom works as a groom for Kenneth Gilpin at Kentmere Boyce Clarke county.

The University of Virginia forms a committee to meet the heirs of Graham F. Blandy regarding acceptance of the bequest of The Tubyries estate near White Post Clarke county for farming and fruit experiments. The board plans a site visit and report to the next board meeting.
Mack Noonan says car volunteers are less generous than in past festivals. Frederick County apple growers should loan cars with drivers for May 4 and 5 to transport visitors through orchards. Contact Mr Noonan at his Amherst Street garage to cooperate, says Director General W A Ryan.
Carl Patton pled guilty to operating a motor vehicle under liquor influence and was jailed 30 days with a $100 fine. An appeal was granted after friends posted $1000 bail for a Corpora tion Court hearing on the third Monday in May.

The Apple Blossom Festival finance committee announces major contributions from commission merchants manufacturers and large corporations toward the festival expenses to be held in Winchester May 4 and 5. Named contributors include American Nicotine Company Allied Barrel Company Acme White Lead and Color Works Standard Oil Company U. S. Printing and Lithographing Company Woolworth New York Insecticide Company and many others.
The Friendship Fire Company of this city postpones its suit against N. D. Long of Middletown for about $180. The case, set before Judge Whiting with a jury, is now rescheduled for Friday morning April 30 at 10 o'clock. The claim concerns services rendered during June 1924 after Long's house burned and the fire company answered an aid appeal.
The Bailey Cooperage Company sues Virginia Barrel Company for payment on a carload of barrel heading used to make lime barrels at a River ton plant. Virginia Barrel seeks about $2,000 in setoff and damages, claiming headings varied in width and thickness causing ill fitting heads. Jury panel includes W. B. Stine and others. attorneys Jas P. Reardon for Bailey and Robt T. Barton for Virginia Barrel.

The Apple Blossom Festival parade in Winchester promises major railroad showmanship from the Baltimore and Ohio and the Pennsylvania Rail Road. Both roads plan large bands and numerous floats with several hidden surprises to outdo each other. The B&O reportedly will feature a train of cars mounted on automobile chassis and thousands of participants. the Pennsy aims to reveal even more dramatic displays. Both lines haul thousands of barrels of apples annually and expect to deliver standout divisions in the parade next Wednesday.
