The August 30 to September 2 dates are set with most Winchester officials offering assistance. Gilpin will pay 1000 cash before opening day and up to 800 more if profits reach 1800. County Treasurer Robert Smith was elected society president and Dorothy McCann named secretary.
Ted Lewis and his Go To It Musical Comedy arrive for a three day Colonial Theatre engagement starting Thursday with two shows and a Saturday matinee. The program includes Jopland and a full company of thirty performers. Lenwood B. Haymaker Jr. nine months old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lenwood B. Haymaker Sr., died at 2 PM yesterday at the parental home 165 North Loudoun Street from indigestion after a short illness. Funeral at 11 AM tomorrow at the house conducted by Rev. J. S. Duckwall. Burial in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Waymond Van Horn, visiting with friends, has returned to Baltimore. Dr. Montgomery of Stephens City was here yesterday on business.

Monticello Guards and Staunton Academy Cadets contribute military style to the Winchester festival crownings. Mrs. Gilpin of Clarke County will be crowned Shenandoah Queen on April 27 as a gilded key of the city is carved from Fort Loudoun wood by John W. Nail. The elaborate program includes a 6 000-student parade, Maypole dance, Navy Band concert, and cadet guard displays, with the queen arriving at Handley School for the coronation ceremony.
