The Protestant Episcopal Diocese of Virginia holds its annual council at Christ Church from May 17 to May 19 with Bishop William Cabell Brown presiding. Bishop Tucker to lead a China mission commission starting June 1, and Dr. Floyd Tompkins to preach. About 100 clergy and 75 to 80 lay delegates attend. the diocese now covers 33 Virginia counties. Winchester Chamber of Commerce issues 868 letters inviting Rotary Kiwanis Lions and Elks clubs across Virginia Maryland and Pennsylvania to attend the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival in Winchester Virginia on April 27 and 28 1927. The invitation includes a parade May Pole Dance Navy Band concerts and a pageant of progress with a queen crowning and parade events on both days.

Camillus Baker Striker, 78, a Winchester native and early member of the Sarah Zane Fire Company, was found dead near Crooked Run in Warren County after a period of ill health. He had lived in Front Royal for 45 years, worked in tinning, and was survived by four children and a brother. Funeral was held in Front Royal with burial there. disappearance earlier Saturday led to investigation.
Harold Lloyd, famed Paramount comedian, stars in The Kid Brother opening in New York at Loew's State Theatre and shown at the Empire for Easter. The three day special shows at Empire and Colonial with daily matinees as crowds anticipate seven reels of comedy.
Manager M A Beam brings the Johnstown Pennsylvania Mid Atlantic League squad to Winchester for training at the fair grounds. A 30 man group will practice daily through May 5 with exhibition games planned, including a Saturday at 3 30 p m against the Regulars and Yanigans. Babe Adams, ex Pirates ace, is among the visitors.
