WISD Eyes Health Insurance Proposals After Premium Spike
Wimberley Independent School District trustees voted to request proposals from insurers with limited actuarial help after reports of a potential 50 percent rise in individual premiums next year. Assistant Superintendent Emmit Herod cited about 300000 in premiums this year with New York Life, the current carrier since switching from Blue Cross Blue Shield last year. Rudd and Wisdom Actuaries will advise on a limited basis as a district-wide committee drafts specs. Changes must be done by mid July with 30 days notice to the current carrier.
