Hays County sueing bondsmen for $64,000 in forfeited felonies

The Hays County Criminal District Attorney filed six bondsmen civil actions to recover $64,000 in forfeited felony bonds after years with no action. Assistant John Costello says the case is in a holding pattern as paperwork is served. The funds were posted to secure defendants at arraignments, with free release to build defenses. The process follows arrest, charging, magis trate evaluation, and bond setting.

City weighs Woodcreek utility purchase plan

Woodcreek City Council discussed buying the portion of the Woodcreek Utility serving the city though a quorum was not met and the meeting was canceled. I S Larkin urged public disclosure and study with the TNRCC on feasibility, while Mayor Jeannine Pool floated a spring bond election and a price range to inform residents. Residents of Woodcreek North may oppose splitting the utility, according to Larkin.

CTMC and Seton link to form central Texas health network

Stand-alone hospitals are a thing of the past. CTMC president Joel Hass announced that Central Texas Medical Center and Seton Medical Center will exchange a letter of intent to form a joint venture holding company. The new network aims to operate health activities while CTMC and Seton remain independent entities during the transition toward completion in about 100 days.
