Wimberley Senior Center Holiday Closures and Activities
The Wimberley Senior Center will close December 23 to 26 and December 30 to January 2. Early closings are planned December 27 to 29. A January 12 New Neighbors Day Trip will tour the Texas State Capitol complex in Austin with lunch at the Capitol restaurant and a $2 gasoline fee. Reservations to Ruth Geise or Nelma Cowser. Groundbreaking for County Juvenile Detention Facility Nears
Groundbreaking for the Hays County Juvenile Detention Center could occur this spring after a second round of bids due by late January 1995. The project, debated since 1985, combines law enforcement support with social advocacy opposition and has remained in political limbo while bids and plans were revised.

Hays County judge says FEMA back on schedule for FIRM study

County schedules pre-trial hearing in Draper case
Hays County District Clerk sets a pre-trial hearing for 34 year old Shirley Draper after she waived arraignment following an indictment on two counts of Injury to a Child and two counts of Endangering a Child. The charges relate to a September 25 drowning involving Draper’s ex husband Greg Cook and their two daughters Shauna and Marissa.

Kyle County offices lease value jumps past appraisal
The Kyle County complex at Front and Center Streets in Kyle includes an 1971 square foot building housing Health and Adult Probation departments and soon the JP court. A 1080 square foot second building hosts the Commissioner's office, a Sheriff substation and the constable. The combined lease costs $3,135 monthly. The two buildings are valued by the Central Appraisal District at $28,510 and $19,750 respectively, while an Austin broker lists the property at $325,000 with a potential buyer described only as an investor. The lease was amended to add space for probation and JP court. The seller is John Osgood. The buyer is not the county. The San Marcos Daily Record notes an executive session on Dec. 12.
