Old Mill Site to Wimberley Mills 1848 1934
The Wimberley area in Hays County grew around an early mill site first called Winters Mill and later Cade’s Mill. William C Winters built a waterpowered gristmill and sawmill beside Cypress Creek, later moved to higher ground after a flood. The operation, expanded by Pleasant Wimberley, included flour, grist, saw, shingle mills and a cotton gin, helping the village become known as Wimberley Mills and then Wimberley, Texas.
