Women keep trustee election steady through decades of service
Three women, Mrs. Louis McCuistion, Mrs. Ren Dee, and Mrs. R. A. Byler, are longtime election workers. Byler has served as election judge since 1916, working in multiple local venues. McCuistion first helped in 1924 and has enjoyed the role, noting pay has risen from one dollar a day. Dee began in 1944 and calls herself young at it, viewing election work as civic duty. The community thanks these ladies for their devotion to this essential American process.

Remembering J A Clayton in the Enchanted County
The author recalls J A Clayton as a mentor from his youth in San Marcos to Wimberley. Clayton’s caring, hands on guidance ranged from Model T Ford work to teaching, with inventive devices like a cross bow and donkey cart. The Clayton camp house, creek swimming holes, and weekend gatherings shaped formative memories.
