21st Annual Rodeo Set for July 2 3 4 in Wimberley
Local historian Tim Harris recalls rodeo origins from Civil War era cattle drives and describes Wimberley VFW Post 6441 sponsorship of rodeos since 1946. The 21st Annual Rodeo occurs July 2 3 and 4 at the Dripping Springs Highway arena with riding thrills and country entertainment.

The June Chamber gathering at the school followed a covered dish supper. Ruth Smith presented the program highlighting graduates from Kyle and San Marcos schools and James II delivered a Casey at the Bat recitation. Treasurer reported $497.15 balance. Mill profit $494.82. Sid White discussed telephone direct dialing Wimberley to San Marcos. A Duke and Duchess to represent Wimberley in the Luling Watermelon Thump Parade was chosen. A Schawe letter asked about another Wimberley Legacy edition with costs $1701.00 per thousand for hard cover and $1301.27 for soft cover. A committee was formed to study underwriting another edition.
