August plans include the Chamber of Commerce dinner August 4 at El Cima Ranch with a Ramsey Yelvington reading and Market Day August 6 with an 8 am start and 10 am auction. A Lawn Party by the Chapel-in-the-Hills Women’s Guild is also planned on the front lawn with ice cream and cake.

Ground Breaking at Twin Mountain Manor in Cliffside
The first of its kind housing project for the elderly in Texas and the world held a ground breaking Monday July 14 at 2 30 pm on three and one half acres in Cliffside near Wimberley Old Baldy and the other Twin Mountains watched by Farm Home Administration officials Governor Connally staff and local residents. Reverend J B Young led the program with an invocation and guests including Colonel Perry Brown Mrs Carter Clapton and Louis Lee attended. The shovel ceremony featured Rev Young and directors Carl Brinkley Jack Monnette Nolan Cloud and others with D L Stevenson absent.

Chamber Reports July Meeting at the School
The Cham ber held its July meeting after a covered dish supper. Mary Bibb reported cash and accounts receivable totaling 517.00 while the chamber bank balance stood at 471.32. Progress on direct dialing to San Marcos remained uncertain. Eight of twelve original underwriters agreed to a new printing. Maps were urged for sale at local stores around the square. The Timmerman Sisters presented a memorable program with notable flower arrangements and home photos. Several visitors attended and introductions were made. The next meeting will be at El Cima. RSVP urged.

Market Day August 6 Featured Auction Sale on the Square
Market Day on August 6 runs from 8:00 a.m. to noon with a special Auction Sale starting at 10:00 a.m. Auctioneer Bill Arendall will sell items brought to Jo Wahrmund's vacant lot west of Wimberley Galleries. A 20 percent fee applies to sold items. Music by J.R. Reed Music Company. The Spare will be decorated with pennants and there should be surprises.
