Stockdale group targets closing abandoned wells in park
The Stockdale Economic Development Corp plans to close six to nine abandoned wells from the 1970s and 1980s in the industrial park. President Frank Bain Jr. says steps include compiling well histories from Texas Railroad Commission reports and a water quality review before plugging wells to aid site sales. The board also adopted its FY2012-13 mission and heard updates on an online business directory and a rural development infrastructure loan.

Stockdale ISD expands board with new trustee Monita
Stockdale Independent School District welcomed Mauro Monita as the new District trustee replacing Leroy Sanchez who resigned for business reasons. Craig Clancy was appointed in May to fill District 2, with elections planned for May 2013. The district also added Joselyn Kotzur and Ismaro Cardenas to Wilson County adjunct staff and awaits a replacement for Lynn Ray West. The 2011-12 audit was clean though the fund balance fell $120,000 due to finishing the $400,000 tennis court project, with future upgrades planned for the track funded by $500,000 set aside earlier.
