Floresville Electric Light & Power System considers renewing with CPS Energy or buying from Bryan Texas Utilities or Garland Power & Light. The board will decide by October as FELPS analyzes peak demand around 85 to 90 megawatts and bids from providers amid Eagle Ford growth.
William C. Barrera, 42, of Floresville, faces one count each of stalking and harassment over a June 27 incident outside the Walmart Supercenter on U S 181. Police say video shows a gray Ford pickup placing a graphic note on a woman's car. Barrera admitted involvement and posted 41,500 bond before grand jury review.
Wilson County voters face a runoff on July 31 after the May 29 primary. Republican contenders for County Commissioner Precinct 3 are Ricky Morales and Larry Bratten. The U S Senate race features Ted Cruz and David Dewhurst. Early voting runs July 23 to 27.
The last day to register for the July runoff was July 2. Runoff votes are on July 31 with early voting July 23–27. For other offices the filing begins July 21 and ends August 1. General election registration closes October 9 with mail ballot requests open September 7 to October 30.
Dr. Calvin Finch was named the director of a new Texas A&M system center in San Antonio focusing on high priority water issues. The Water Conservation and Technology Center will pursue four key areas water conservation reuse desalination and energy development and will relocate to the TAMU San Antonio campus later.
