More than 1,200 participated in a 40 minute conference call. Improvements near Stockdale funded by Proposition 12 include passing lanes and left turn lanes on U S 87 and SH 123. Bids expected in July August for projects totaling about 16 million dollars.

Floresville officer says a vigilant neighbor helped catch two burglars on Cottonwood Street. 18 year old Samuel Salazar and 17 year old Michael Smith, both Pleasanton residents, admitted casing a home and using a crowbar to force entry. They faced burglary charges after a chase and seizure of jewelry and a police scanner.

Crash claims life of 29 year old oil field worker Meeks
Corey Wayne Meeks 29 of Falls City died after his 1995 GMC Sierra crossed the centerline on U S 181 north of Falls City and struck the rear of a flatbed semi driven by Arnold Alexander of Elmendorf. He was pronounced dead at 3 22 a m. DPS notes rising fatal crashes in Wilson Karnes and Goliad counties with nine in Wilson and seven in Karnes since January 1.
