Rescued 243 From the Wreck in Bering Sea
A treasury department report states Captain Munger’s Bering Sea fleet rescued 243 people from the ship John Currier after it wrecked August 9 at Nelson's lagoon, Waimak Island. All were landed Sept. 16 aboard Thetis, with landing options at Seward or Seattle. The rescue averted starvation risk from the stranded food aboard the carrier.
