Attorney Owens Attends North Dakota Bar Meeting in Jamestown
Wm G Owens of this city returned from a week abroad attending legal business at Rugby and Fargo and the Bar Association of North Dakota meeting in Jamestown. He reports the meeting as among the best in years with robust attendance and an address by President Greene of Minot. The group discussed streamlined appeals to the Supreme Court, redrawing judicial districts to add judges, and reforms in practice. They recommended an amendment by Owens to require foreclosure notice to landowners, to curb fraud and allow redemption. The association opposed recall amendments and the parole or probate of felons. Prominent attendees included Gregory of the American Bar Association and seven state justices. Jamestown hosted dignitaries as Owens was named to the State Executive Committee.
